ENHANCING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY

Promoting Modern Farming Techniques, High-Yield Seeds, and Advanced Irrigation

Advancing Medical & Health Research

The National Commission for Agriculture and Farmers Development (NCAFD) is dedicated to improving agricultural productivity in India by promoting modern farming techniques, advanced irrigation methods, and the use of high-yield seeds. Given the rising demand for food and the challenges posed by climate change, increasing crop production efficiently is essential for ensuring food security and farmer prosperity.

One of the primary strategies employed by NCAFD is the adoption of modern agricultural techniques such as precision farming, mechanization, and smart irrigation. Precision farming utilizes drones, satellite imagery, and AI-based analytics to optimize resource use, ensuring higher productivity while minimizing waste. Mechanization, through tractors, seed drills, and automated harvesters, helps reduce labor costs and enhances efficiency.

NCAFD also promotes the use of high-yield and climate-resilient seeds developed through advanced biotechnology and research. These seeds are designed to resist pests, tolerate droughts, and increase yields, ensuring better crop performance even in challenging environmental conditions. In addition, farmers are encouraged to adopt organic and bio-fertilizers, improving soil health and reducing dependency on chemical inputs.

Advanced irrigation techniques, such as drip and sprinkler irrigation, are vital for water conservation and ensuring adequate moisture for crops. Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), farmers receive support for efficient water use, reducing dependency on monsoons and preventing water wastage.

To ensure widespread adoption, NCAFD provides training programs, digital platforms, and financial incentives to farmers, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and resources. By integrating technology, research, and policy support, the commission aims to enhance agricultural productivity, improve farmers’ incomes, and strengthen India’s food security, making agriculture more resilient and sustainable for the future.
